Sur les Pas de Saint Jacques

Monique

“Welcoming pilgrims is a source of enrichment. I was able to compare the
Occitan and Catalan languages with three ladies from Perpignan and
Banyuls. I had quite a moment of panic with people from Australia
explaining to them in English how a mill works, since my English is very
rusty, but they were charming. Some try to ask you tough questions. For
example I was asked about the different varieties of swallows. So I replied
barn swallow, house martin and town martin (a French song). They burst
out laughing and I didnʼt hear any more from the swallow fan until the end
of the visit!”
